After World Series, Time to Start Your Spring Training Planning

Spring Training OnlineWith the Boston Red Sox earning another World Series victory, it’s time to look at the next big event on the baseball calendar: spring training 2019.

As many of you know, we also run a fan-central Spring Training Online site, and we’ve been spending the past few months prepping for spring training 2019. Schedules have already been released for every MLB team, so you can begin your planning process by checking out the Cactus League and Grapefruit League schedules. But the schedules are not necessarily complete or final. In the last week or so we’ve updated all 30 team schedules with up-to-the-minute information, as several teams and spring-training complexes released new schedule information in recent days, mostly in the form of game times. We have published our annual guides to spring training: you can check out each one here.

One trend that emerged last year that seems to have gained force in 2019: more and more night games. Seattle scheduled a whole slew of night games in 2018, and the experiment must have worked: several teams seem to have scheduled more night games for 2018. We know there are some folks upset about night games on the schedule: they are traditionalists who build their day around a lunch and a game. But the trend is definitely toward more night games in the Cactus League. In any case, if you’re still planning your trip, the updated information will be useful.

Despite these updates, there are still several teams that have not yet released game times as of this past weekend, most notably the Red Sox, Cubs, Orioles, Padres, Rays and Yankees. We’ll be tracking those teams to pass along as much information as possible. And we’re still waiting for word about the status of annual Las Vegas and San Antonio exhibitions.
