Josh Buchholz Named American Association Executive Director

American Association

Josh Buchholz has been named the new executive director of the American Association, according to an announcement from the independent league. He will begin his role in May 2018.

Buchholz has been the Vice President & General Manager of the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks since October 2005. While with the RedHawks, Buchholz was a part of five league championships (1998, 2003, 2006, 2009, 2010), earned league Executive of the Year honors three times (2008, 2010, 2012) and in 2013 was named to Prairie Business Magazine’s “Top 40 Under 40” business leaders in North Dakota, South Dakota and northwest Minnesota.

Buchholz served as the club’s Director of Media Relations and Director of Baseball Operations before being named the fourth General Manger in franchise history. He joined the organization in 1996 as Clubhouse Manager and was promoted to the front office following the 1997 season.

He replaces Dan Moushon, the league’s president since its inception in 2006, who has taken a position as president of the Appalachian League. Classified as Advanced Rookie, the league features affiliates from 10 Major League Baseball organizations (Atlanta, Cincinnati, Kansas City, Minnesota, N.Y. Mets, N.Y. Yankees, Pittsburgh, St. Louis, Tampa Bay and Toronto).

“We’re excited and honored to have Josh on board. His years of experience within the league overseeing an extremely solid operation in Fargo-Moorhead make him the perfect candidate for this position,” American Association commissioner Miles Wolff said. “Dan Moushon has been an integral part of the American Association since its beginning, and we wish him well in his new role with one of baseball’s most respected affiliated leagues.”
