The 2017 Frontier League All-Star Game is coming to Joliet, as the Joliet Slammers have announced that they will host the midsummer contest. The event will take place on Wednesday, July 12 at Silver Cross Field.
“We are extremely excited to have been selected to host the 2017 Frontier League All-Star Game,” said Joliet Slammers President and CEO Nick Semaca. “It is a great tribute to our fans, the City of Joliet, and all of Will County and we are looking for a great week of celebration for the game next July”.
Monday, July 10 will mark the beginning of the All-Star festivities with a welcome reception for Frontier League All-Stars and staff that evening.
The Bill Lee Golf Outing will be held Tuesday, July 11 for staff and players, followed by the Home Run Derby set for 7 p.m.
The All-Star Game will take place on Wednesday, July 12 at 7 p.m. following a luncheon where Frontier League Hall of Fame inductees will be announced. A special guest speaker will be announced in the coming months. The luncheon is open to players, staff and the public.
Individual tickets for both the Home Run Derby and All-Star game will go on sale at a later date. Group pricing is available and little league teams will have the opportunity to shag balls during the Home Run Derby if purchasing group tickets for that day.
It will be the first time since 2004 that Joliet has hosted an All-Star game. It is likely to be the only event of its kind for several more years.
