The Sonoma Stompers (independent; Pacific Association) have been sold to local residents Eric and Lani Gullotta in anticipation of the team’s second season.
Eric Gullotta, who was born in Sonoma, will serve as the Chairmen of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Sonoma Athletics and Entertainment, under which the Stompers will be owned and operated.
Gullotta, a Sonoma attorney, orchestrated and negotiated the purchase of the franchise from the previous owners, Redwood Sports and Entertainment — a company owned and controlled by a group of Marin County investors. Redwood Sports and Entertainment also own the San Rafael Pacifics.
“Local ownership will bring some much needed life to this team,” Gullotta said. “The prior out of town ownership put together a great ball club, but a local owner is what is needed to bring Sonoma an entertaining and successful team, and an even better place for families and fans of all ages to spend their summer.”
With Opening Day slated for June 2015, the Stompers will return to Arnold Field to host their home games against Pacific Association competition. The Stompers front office remains the same: Theo Fightmaster staying on as the Vice President, Chief Operating Officer and General Manager, and Sonoma High and Sonoma State University Sean Boisson being promoted to Assistant GM.
