The Tennessee Smokies (Class AA; Southern League) have entered into a long-term partnership agreement with Gordon Food Service as the lead provider of food and concession items at Smokies Stadium for the 2014 season and beyond.
The announcement comes as part of a significant emphasis being placed on food service and quality upgrades at the ballpark. This was announced as the first step of expansion plans to the food service experience for fans at the ballpark.
“Gordon Food Service has a proven track record of quality and consistency and will be an outstanding long term partner for the Smokies,” said Chris Allen, Smokies Chief Operating Officer.
Allen continued, “This is a partnership in every sense of the word and we’re relying on the expertise and experience Gordon Food Service brings us.”
The multi-year agreement will enable both the Smokies and Gordon Food Service to continually refine the menu items available at Smokies games while working to provide Gluten Free and vegetarian options to fans visiting Smokies Stadium in 2014.
In addition to providing food, Gordon Food Service will be working closely with the Smokies staff to develop some improved guest relationship components, including the implementation of a new point of sale system in the stadium. The investment in this important customer-experience segment should enhance customer service at each of the Smokies Park concourse sites.
“We are excited to be a partner with the Tennessee Smokies and we look forward to supporting them in their efforts to improve the total food service experience for their fans,” said Matt Benefiel, Gordon Food Service Regional Sales Manager.
“Food and beverage is key to a great ballpark experience and Gordon Food Service will be a valuable partner as we move forward” said Doug Kirchhofer, Smokies President.
The partnership became effective immediately upon the execution of the agreement today at the Smokies offices at Smokies Stadium.
