With Monongalia County signing off on a funding plan for a new West Virginia ballpark, the next step is approval from a state agency, followed by the legislature in coming months.
The county commission formally agreed yesterday to send a request for a TIF district to the State Development Office. If approved, a TIF district would be established for University Town Centre, where a developer would build a new ballpark for the Mountaineers and potentially a short-season A franchise.
If the state agency signs off, the proposal will go before the state legislature.
