Wildcats settling in at Hi Corbett

Hi Corbett Field

No issues in moving from Sancet Stadium to venerable Hi Corbett Field: the Arizona Wildcats are 19-7 so far playing in the classic old ballpark and drawing very good crowds.

As you’ll recall, the University of Arizona signed a lease this offseason to move Wildcats games to Hi Corbett Field, which opened in 1927 (with WPA funding for expansions) and served as home to spring-training and minor-league baseball in Tucson for decades. The school put some money into painting and other small changes, sprucing up the place.

Besides the success on the field, the move appears to be paying off at the box office: the team is averaging 2,226 fans a game, with a few crowds over 4,000.
