This weekend: the 50th Florida State League All‐Star Game

Florida State LeagueNice milestone coming up for the Florida State League: The Clearwater Threshers are hosting the circuit’s 50th All-Star Game at Bright House Field, with the actual game Saturday night, preceded by a reception and a home-run derby.

The weekend kicks off Friday night with a Sunset Reception held at the Hyatt Regency Clearwater Beach and Spa. The reception will begin at 6:45 p.m. and tickets are available for purchase at $75. The event itself will be held on the 8th floor pool deck of the resort and attire is beach casual.

On Saturday, gates will open at 5 p.m. at Bright House Field. The Home‐Run Derby (presented by Yuengling) will begin at 5:45 p.m. During pre‐game ceremonies players will be introduced as well as the presentation of the FSL scholarship recipient. Members of the MacDill Air Force Base Para Commandos are scheduled to parachute onto the field.

First pitch is slated for 7:05 p.m. and will be aired live by Bright House Sports Network. The game will also be streamed online on ThreshersBaseball.com and MiLB.com. Daytona Cubs broadcasters Robbie Aarons and Dan Acheson will call the game.

After the game, the MiLB.com Star of the Game Presentation will be made followed by a brilliant fireworks show presented by Bells Fireworks and sponsored by Yuengling Brewery. The post‐game party will be held at Frenchy’s Tiki Pavilion located behind left field. This party is open to the public and wristbands featuring all‐you‐can‐eat‐and‐drink are available for purchase for $20. Beverages will include sodas and Miller‐Coors products. Entertainment will be provided by 70’s cover band Disco Inferno on a full stage with lights.

The Phillie Phanatic will be making a special appearance at the game.
