TD Ameritrade Park opens with no issues

NCAA BaseballBad weather dampened the open-night crowd at Omaha’s TD Ameritrade Park to less than the anticipated sellout, but the game between Creighton and Nebraska found everything in the ballpark in good working order in plenty of time before the College World Series.

The temperatures were in the 30s with a nasty wind. A crowd of around 18,000 — officially, 22,197, still short of a 24,000 sellout — was on hand to see the first game in the new ballpark, slated to serve in June as the home of the College World Series. Not everything was finished (ATMs were absent), but NCAA and MECA officials proclaimed the night a success.

Weather permitting, we’ll be down for Friday’s game.
