The new general manager of the Torrington Titans (summer collegiate; Futures Collegiate Baseball League): Mike O’Malley, currently in his second year as assistant baseball coach at Brown University.
“Being in collegiate baseball year round gives me a huge advantage in operating a collegiate summer franchise.” O’Malley said. O’Malley instructs the Bears infielders and assists with the Bear’s hitters. O’Malley also directs the Bear’s baseball camps, coordinates team travel coordination, assists in nationwide recruiting efforts and is actively involved in all aspects of the program’s management.
His background: after playing collegiately at Rhode Island, O’Malley signed professionally with the Can-Am League’s Worcester Tornadoes.
“I couldn’t be more excited about the opportunity here in Torrington, with the great baseball tradition, the community support, a proven winner in Coach Hunt and the promotions we have planned,” he added.
