Cooper returns to Beach Bums; Calderwood to Crushers

Chad Cooper returns as the voice of the Traverse City Beach Bums; Tim Calderwood is the new voice of the Lake Erie Crushers.

Chad Cooper, the original voice of the Traverse City Beach Bums (independent; Frontier League), will be returning to the team for the 2010 season.

“We're excited to have Chad back this year,” said Beach Bums Managing Member and CEO John Wuerfel. “He was a part of our very successful inaugural season and he knows the Frontier League inside and out. He knows the area, he knows the league and our fans know him.”

The 2005 Frontier League Broadcaster of the Year, 2010 will mark Cooper’s eighth season in baseball and his sixth in the Frontier League. His previous stops have included the Evansville Otters (2003-05), the Beach Bums (2006), the Vero Beach Devil Rays (2007), the North Adams SteepleCats (2008) and most recently the Windy City ThunderBolts last year. He is one of five former or current Frontier League broadcasters who have Major League broadcasting experience thanks to his regular work on the Tampa Bay Devil Rays pregame show in the 2007 season.

All Beach Bums games will be carried on Sunny Country 101.9 FM-HD/Traverse City and simulcast on 750 WARD-AM.  Long-distance fans of the Beach Bums will be able to listen to the games streaming online.

Meanwhile, former Beach Bums broadcaster Tim Calderwood will be staying in the Frontier League: he's the new voice of the Lake Erie Crushers. Calderwood was Frontier League Broadcaster of the Year in 2009.
