New this season: expanded game broadcasts on MiLB.com

We get asked this question a lot, and now we have a good answer: expanded game video is now available to out-of-towners wanting a glimpse of their favorite minor-league players.

We get asked this question a lot, and now we have a good answer: expanded game video is now available to out-of-towners wanting a glimpse of their favorite minor-league players.

As part of the revamped MiLB.com, streaming video of select games is available for a subscription fee ($29.95 per season). The quality depends on the team: when there are local broadcasts (in the case of most Triple-A teams) you'll access the broadcast, but where there's not (in the case of virtually every Single-A team) you'll access a straight video feed combined with streaming audio of the radiocast.

That's what's happening with the Great Lakes Loons (Low Class A; Midwest League), who are combining game action with Brad Golder's call on ESPN 100.9 FM.

“We’ve always had the pitch-by-pitch online game cast, which is great, but nothing compares to actually viewing the action,” said Loons President and General Manager Paul Barbeau. “And if you can’t be at the park to show your support, watching a broadcast is the next best thing.”

Also available at the new MiLB.com: mobile sites for participating teams. The mobile sites will include many of the same features available on MiLB.com, including live scores, news, schedules, statistics and standings, team rosters and player bios.  Fans just need to enter MiLB.com into their web-enabled wireless devices to have an array of information and features from The Official Site of Minor League Baseball at their fingertips.

"This is a great step forward for BIRCO and Minor League Baseball," said Baseball Internet Rights Company (BIRCO) Board Chairman and Chattanooga Lookouts owner Frank Burke. "The launch of MiLB team mobile websites is an accomplishment that could only be achieved through the centralization of MiLB digital rights into BIRCO, and is a testament to all the hard work and collective efforts of the participating MiLB teams and leagues, their dedicated staff members and our partners at MLB Advanced Media."
