The Newark Bears (independent; Atlantic League) are being sued by three teenagers who allegedly refused to stand during the singing of "God Bless America" during a recent game and were subsequently ejected.
The three say Bears co-owner Thomas Cetnar approached them after the song and tossed them out for not standing, quiting Cetnar as saying "Nobody sits during the singing of 'God Bless America' in my stadium. Now the get the [expletive] out of here," according to the lawsuit. Cetnar has not commented on the lawsuit, and other members of the Bears ownership are not commenting, either.
It does seem a little odd, especially after the New York Yankees were recently forced to pay $10,001 to a fan tossed from Yankee Stadium after heading to the restroom during the singing of — wait — "God Bless America." However, a parent of one of the lads says the lawsuit is legit.
