Topeka Golden Giants working on ballpark enhancements

The Topeka Golden Giants promise an upgraded ballpark and fan experience for 2010.

More evidence summer-collegiate ball is maturing: The Topeka Golden Giants of the M.I.N.K. League promise an upgraded ballpark and fan experience for 2010.

In a press release, team owner Brett Cowdin promises many changes to the team's home at Lake Shawnee.

"In 2010, we plan on making every Golden Giants game an event," Cowdin said. "The goal is to bring family friendly entertainment and great baseball to the citizens of Topeka."

The Golden Giants are working on some renovations to the Lake Shawnee ballfield; we expect more details as plans come together with the Shawnee County Parks and Recreation.

"We're going to have between inning contests, giveaways, theme nights, expanded concessions, a beer garden and so much more.  We can't wait to show you all the stops we are pulling out this year,"  said Cowdin.

The M.I.N.K. League is one of the more venerable summer-collegiate leagues, with institutions like the Clarinda A's and Beatrice Bruins.
