Despite the economy, many minor-league teams are doing OK: in today's good news, the Quad Cities River Bandits (Low Class A; Midwest League) are enjoying their second-highest first-half attendance in team history.
Modern Woodmen Park played host to 4,585 fans in the final home game of the first half on Saturday night, raising year-to-date attendance to 103,669 — the second largest total in franchise history .
The last time the Quad Cities franchise drew a six-figure attendance total before the All-Star break was 1995, but the only season in which the first-half crowds were bigger than 2009 was when 109,991 passed through the turnstiles during the Major League strike year of 1994.
