RedHawks to honor flood volunteers at May game

The team is giving away 4,082 to folks fighting the recent Red River flooding in the greater Fargo-Moorhead area. The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks (independent; Northern League) are giving away 4,082 tickets to a May 17 game to anyone who helped battle this springs flood. The number 4,082 corresponds to the Red River’s record crest of 40.82 feet.

In addition to free tickets, the first 5,000 Flood Fighters at the game will receive a t-shirt commemorating the day and the flood battle, while popular local band Carmen The Cactus will play a free post-game concert.

Starting on Saturday, April 25 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., anyone who helped fight the flood can pick up tickets to the May 17 game at the RedHawks Ticket Office, located in the lower level of Newman Outdoor Field. The RedHawks will continue to give away tickets for this special event until they are gone.

"This is our way of saying thank you to as many volunteers as we can accommodate. We want people to come out, relax and enjoy a baseball game on us," said RedHawks Executive Vice President Brad Thom. "The flood affected many families in the area, including my own, and we want to recognize the generosity, selflessness and determination of all those volunteers who helped family, friends and strangers during those tense days."
