It looks like the certain demise of Ray Winder Field, the former home of the Arkansas Travelers, after a preservation group passes on bidding for the historic ballpark.
The Ray Winder Field Foundation had put a bid in to buy the ballpark in an earlier city-led bidding process. However, the results of that bidding was thrown out after irregularities in the bidding process were uncovered.
With the ballpark again up for bids, the foundation decided to pass. Two of the three previous bidders on the project, including the winner, called for the demolition of the historic ballpark, which opened in 1932. The Arkansas Travelers moved to Dickey-Stephens Park in the 2007 season.
