Fans can exchange a piece of memorabilia from Alex Rodriguez’s admitted steroid years (2001-2003) for Fort Worth Cats (independent; American Association) ducats during the team’s spring fan fest on March 14.
It’s a cute gimmick, to be sure. And A-Fraud Redemption Day is a way for the Cats to make an impact in the local media market, especially when A-Rod’s steroid abuse happened when he was a member of the nearby Texas Rangers.
Still, we can’t help but wonder how many fans will actually show up with memorabilia, especially when it could still be worth something.
