Ducks open new ballpark today

The University of Oregon Ducks are back in the college-baseball ranks and will open PK Stadium today.
The University of Oregon Ducks will play a home baseball game for the first time since 1981 with the opening of PK Stadium.

The Ducks dropped varsity baseball in 1981 because of budget issues. The school brought baseball back and launched the construction of PK Stadium, built next to Autzen Stadium on the college’s campus. The ballpark is a mix of the permanent (scoreboards, diamond) and the temporary (seating). The ballpark currently seats 2,754, but it’s slated to seat more next season when permanent seating is installed. It’s named for athletic director Pat Kilkenny, who donated much of the construction funding.
