With the announcement that Kevin Costner is teaming up with him on a new Zion ballpark and Northern League team, the assumption is that Rich Ehrenreich is selling the Schaumburg Flyers.
At least, that’s the assumption in Schaumburg, where local officials are looking at a possible sale when plotting the future of Alexian Field. All in all, the addition of a Zion team is seen as a positive for the Flyers; it’s easier to sell a Zion/Schaumburg rivalry than a Kansas City/Schaumburg rivalry.
Interestingly, the city does have a say in what happens to the team, which is in the midst of a 15-year lease. The village and the local Park Board has to approve any new owner.
