Tincaps sign new radio deal, add Watson in the booth

Fort Wayne TinCaps (Low Class A; Midwest League) and ESPN Radio 1380AM announced the signing of a three-year broadcast agreement.

The Fort Wayne TinCaps (Low Class A; Midwest League) and ESPN Radio 1380AM announced the signing of a three-year broadcast agreement. All 140 home and road TinCaps games will be broadcast live throughout the 2009, 2010 and 2011 seasons on the Federated Media owned radio station.

"From the beginning Federated Media has been the broadcast voice of Minor League Baseball in Fort Wayne,” said Federated Media General Manager, Mark DePrez. “It seemed only natural that ESPN 1380 radio continue the broadcast partnership with the TinCaps as they make the exciting move to downtown Fort Wayne and Parkview Field. ESPN radio is one of the truly great brands in all of sports and the TinCaps are among the most respected franchises in all of the Minor Leagues. It’s a natural association."

New to the TinCaps radio booth in 2009 is Dan Watson. Watson spent the 2007 season broadcasting for the Daytona Cubs of the Florida State League, and 2008 with the Harrisburg Senators. “Fans will enjoy Dan’s call of the game,” said Michael Limmer, TinCaps Vice President of Marketing. “His delivery and pacing remind me of the great baseball broadcasters, which is exceptional considering this will be only his third season behind the mic in Minor League Baseball.” A familiar voice will join Watson in the booth as Mike Maahs will fill out the two-man TinCaps broadcast team.

Fans have already taken to Dan’s unique perspective and writing style with the popular online blog, ‘The Watson Files’ and fans can expect more of the same during TinCaps broadcasts this season. People can learn more about the TinCaps new play-by-play caller by reading ‘The Watson Files’ updated several times a week on the team’s website at TinCaps.com.

TinCaps supporters will be able to tune their radio to ESPN 1380AM as well as their computers to the live-streaming broadcasts by logging on to TinCaps.com all season long.
