Eastern League

The Eastern League began life as the New York-Pennsylvania League, which ran from 1923-1937; this league took on the Eastern League name in 1938. (This is not to be confused with the current New York-Pennsylvania League, which took its current name in 1939; it was known better by its informal name of PONY League between 1939 and 1956.) To complicate things even more, there was an Eastern League that ran between 1916 and 1932 unrelated to the current Eastern League.
