A bus transporting the Elizabethton Twins (rookie; Appalachian League) from Florida to Tennessee for the home opener was involved in a crash this morning, which killed the driver of the other vehicle.
The bus was on the road near Jacksonville when a driver came down I-295, going the wrong way. The bus driver attempted to avoid the oncoming vehicle, to no avail. The crash occurred at 4:25 a.m.; the freeway was reopened around 9 a.m.
No one on the Twins team bus was hurt, and the team was back on the road when a replacement bus appeared. The team is scheduled to open the season Thursday.
