The Lansing Lugnuts (Low A; Midwest League) have made a major personnel announcement, promoting Nick Grueser to Team President and naming Tyler Parsons as their new General Manager.
“Heading into our 23rd season, with the Midwest League All-Star Game presented by LAFCU coming to Lansing in 2018, our focus is on excellence from the top down,” said Lansing Lugnuts Owner Tom Dickson. “With Nick’s experience and leadership and Tyler’s energy and track record, we feel that this makes us stronger than ever.”
Grueser enters his 17th season with the franchise, serving as Lugnuts General Manager since June 2012. In 2016, he was named the Midwest League’s Executive of the Year after overseeing the groundbreaking, award-winning renovation of Cooley Law School Stadium.
A Central Michigan University alumnus, Parsons comes to the Lugnuts from the Johnson City Cardinals, where he served as Vice President beginning in 2017 and General Manager since 2014. Parsons led the Cardinals to increases in attendance, ticket sales and corporate sales each season from 2014 through 2017. This past season, Johnson City’s TVA Credit Union Ballpark was awarded Best Rookie Level Ballpark in Minor League Baseball by Ballpark Digest.
In an official release from the Johnson City Cardinals, Boyd Sports LLC President and COO Chris Allen said, “We are extremely excited for Tyler and his new venture. Tyler has played a huge part in turning the Johnson City Cardinals into one of the premier Rookie League teams in all of baseball. He has proven himself to be a leader in this industry, and the Lansing Lugnuts will be pleased with what they find in the work he will provide them.”
