A new brew will be on tap at Eastwood Field this season, as the Mahoning Valley Scrappers (Short Season A; NY-Penn League) and Platform Beer Co are collaborating on the beer. The beverage will be available at Eastwood Field and various establishments in Youngstown.
Team partnerships with local breweries have become increasingly prominent in recent years, and the Scrappers are now among the clubs ensuring that the trend continues. As part of their initiative, the Scrappers and the Cleveland-based Platform are asking fans to submit name suggestions for the co-branded wheat beer.
Fans, 21 and over, are encouraged to submit name ideas on the Scrappers Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages. All names must be submitted by May 29 to be considered. The winning name will be announced on Tuesday, May 30. The fan with the winning name will receive a prize pack courtesy of the Mahoning Valley Scrappers and Platform Beer.
The brewers and staff of Platform Beer are focused on making a traditional ballpark beer that is refreshing and crisp. This traditional wheat beer is brewed with Pilsner malt, flaked wheat, and a touch of naked oats. Citrus peel will provide notes of orange, lemon, and lime with a subtle spice of coriander.
