For one night, the Mahoning Valley Scrappers (Short Season A; NY-Penn League) will become the Mahoning Valley Packards. The name change will take place as part of a promotion that is scheduled for August 12.
The Scrappers, in conjunction with the National Packard Museum, will celebrate the historic Packard car and the Packard legacy. The night is presented by the Eastwood Mall Complex.
The Packards will don specialty Mahoning Valley Packards jerseys, which will be available for auction the day of the game and online with proceeds benefiting the National Packard Museum.
Mary Ann Porinchak, executive director of the National Packard Museum, states, “We truly appreciate the Scrapper Team for their efforts in bringing this collaboration to fruition to support the National Packard Museum. This opportunity to promote the Packard legacy publicly in America’s favorite past time arena is an honor and a thrill. As an institution that preserves the history of Packard, we are thrilled to share this heritage with a team that epitomizes the drive, character and pursuit of excellence that is synonymous with the name Packard. I am sure the Mahoning Valley Packards will make us proud and that the Packard brothers would approve!”
A ticket package is available starting at $30. The package includes a game ticket to August 12 and a limited edition Mahoning Valley Packards hat or t-shirt. For $45, fans can purchase a game ticket, a Mahoning Valley Packards hat and t-shirt. Both ticket packages include a donation to the National Packard Museum.
Brandiose designed the specialty jersey and retail hats. “The Packard brand is one of the most storied in America history,” said Brandiose’s Jason Klein. “We’re honored to celebrate the story of this American icon and its deep roots in the Mahoning Valley.”
Beginning in July the Pet Store at Eastwood Field will sell limited edition Mahoning Valley Packards t-shirts and hats.
