Personnel News: Johnson City, Pensacola, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre

Johnson City Cardinals

We have personnel news to report from the Johnson City Cardinals (Rookie; Appalachian League), Pensacola Blue Wahoos (Class AA; Southern League), and Scranton/Wilkes Barre RailRiders (Class AAA; International League).

In Johnson City, Trey Gilreath has been named an account executive. Gilreath will replace Zac Clark, who accepted a position with the Asheville Tourists (Low A; Sally League) as sponsorship services manager.

“Trey is an individual that came highly recommended from our colleagues over at ETSU and we are thrilled to add him to our staff here in Johnson City,” added Cardinals GM Tyler Parsons. “He has an incredibly bright future and has already hit the ground running. I have no doubt he will be a great asset to our staff and he brings a relentless drive. We couldn’t happier to add someone of his character and skill level.”

Hailing from Bluff City, Tennessee, Gilreath is a graduate of Sullivan East High School and he played collegiate baseball at Virginia Intermont and Point University (GA) before transferring to East Tennessee State to finish his degree.

Prior to joining the Cardinals, Gilreath spent time with National Scouting Report as a Regional Scout, and was most recently working in External Relations with ETSU Athletics. With the Cardinals, Gilreath will handle corporate sales, on-field promotions and gameday staffing.

“It’s great being part of a championship organization. An organization where players like Yadier Molina started their Hall of Fame career,” said Gilreath. “Prior to my arrival the Cardinals generated a lot of momentum with attendance records and championships. I believe something special is being built here. It’s great for the community, and it’s a great time to be a Johnson City Cardinal!”

Gilreath also spent time with Velocity Sports in Bristol, TN and now resides in Bluff City.

In Pensacola, Tony Atchley has been appointed to the position of vice president of sales.

“We are very excited about the addition of Tony to our team,” said Jonathan Griffith, president of the Blue Wahoos. “This is a special year for us by hosting the Southern League All-Star Game so, it was important to us to find a group with a diverse background in sports. As our team continues to flourish in the community, it was important to fill this position with a talented individual.”

Tony Atchley joins the Blue Wahoos front office team as the vice president of sales. Having the great fortune of calling Pensacola home for nearly his entire life, Atchley is a career sales professional since 1982 having seen stops with global, national and local companies including Farmers Insurance, Siemens, ADP, Network Telephone and Digital Systems among others.
