After receiving the positions on an interim basis during the 2016 season, Bryan Holland and Aaron Johnson have been named co-general managers of the Potomac Nationals (High A; Carolina League).
Officially, Holland will be the GM of sales while Johnson will be the GM of operations. The two longtime P-Nats executives were named interim GMs in May.
“Aaron and Bryan have demonstrated the potential for greater responsibility and leadership within our organization over the past years,” said chairman/CEO Art Silber. “This last season, under difficult circumstances, we took advantage of that potential and saw it evolve into accomplishment and even greater potential.”
“We are delighted to have both of them in the General Manager position with a division of responsibility, but yet working together to advance the growth of our ball club,” said Silber. “Lani, Seth, and I have every confidence that they will set the bar at our highest levels.”
Holland, a Minor League Baseball veteran and former “Voice of the P-Nats” from 2013 into 2016, will oversee all sales and marketing operations for the Potomac Nationals including corporate partnerships, season tickets, group tickets, picnic outing hospitality, advertising initiatives, and new business development negotiations.
Holland’s ascent to General Manager status with the Potomac Nationals included service as Group & Corporate Sales Executive, Director of Media Relations & Broadcasting, and Director of Corporate Sales.
A native of Elkridge, MD and graduate of Elon University (NC), the 2017 campaign will be Holland’s 10th season in Minor League Baseball, and 6th season as a member of the Potomac Nationals’ front office.
“Aaron and I are extremely honored and privileged to receive this vote of confidence from Art Silber and the Silber family to lead the Potomac Nationals franchise forward in a manner that will excel the P-Nats Baseball brand to new heights,” said Holland.
“We are committed to delivering a superior family-friendly, affordable entertainment experience at Pfitzner Stadium for our fans, sponsors, marketing partners, booster club members, and community leaders alike.”
Originally from Northern Virginia, Johnson began his Potomac Nationals’ tenure in 2012 as Operations Manager.
A graduate of George Mason University (VA), Johnson previously served as Director of Stadium Operations & Merchandise Manager, Director of Food & Beverage, and Assistant General Manager.
Like Holland, Johnson will begin his 6th year with the Potomac Nationals in 2017.
In his General Manager role, Johnson will supervise both the stadium operations and food and beverage departments at Pfitzner Stadium while executing corporate partnerships and consulting with Holland on marketing paradigms for the organization.
Holland and Johnson will share responsibilities in the areas of public relations, media relations, community relations, and baseball operations.
“Our vision for the future of the Potomac Nationals franchise is rooted in proliferating and maximizing the value of our entertainment product in every way possible to create the most versatile and dynamic fan experience imaginable,” said Johnson.
The GM pair will continue to report directly to Potomac Nationals President and Chief Operating Officer, Lani Silber Weiss.
