With the opening of CHS Field in two weeks, the St. Paul Saints (independent; American Association) today unveiled the ballpark’s environmentally responsible initiatives, as sponsored by founding partner Ecolab.
Sustainability efforts at CHS Field include recycling, solar power and water conservation and re-use. CHS Field will utilize recycling and composting to ensure a zero waste facility, solar panels to assist in the generation of electricity for the ballpark, and rain water harvesting for field irrigation and for other uses in the venue. On Opening Day, fans can learn more about the “Greenest Ballpark in America” at Ecolab kiosks.
Ecolab’s cleaning solutions will also help CHS Field minimize environmental impact, tapping into specialized formulas that will help maintain a clean ballpark while reducing water and energy use.
“We made a commitment from day one that CHS Field would be the ‘Greenest Ballpark in America,’” said Derek Sharrer, Saints executive vice president and general manager. “Our friends at Ecolab understand the importance of this effort and wanted to be a part of it. We look forward to partnering with this great Saint Paul corporation to turn our vision into a reality. With the help of our fans, we expect to achieve all of our sustainability goals.”
“Sponsoring the green efforts at CHS Field is a natural fit with Ecolab’s commitment to sustainability and to the communities in which we operate. Sustainability is core to our purpose, from customer solutions to our own operations, and we are thrilled to help the Saints lead the way in environmental stewardship,” said Kris Taylor, vice president of community relations, Ecolab.
The Saints will open CHS Field on Thursday, May 21, at 7:05 p.m. against the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks.
