C.O. Brown Stadium renovations announced

Battle Creek BombersThey are long overdue: renovations to C.O. Brown Stadium, home to the Battle Creek Bombers (summer collegiate; Northwoods League), are set for the 2014 season.

On the agenda: a new and improved outfield scoreboard to replace the current broken one, damaged by lightning during the 2013 season. The center-field fence will also be moved in and lowered. Also, the fences on the first base side, both lining the outside of the field and the ones lining the grandstand, will be replaced. Fencing surrounding the bowl will also be revamped as well.

New lighting poles will be brought in to replace the current ones in the outfield, as well as new lamps for the infield lights themselves. Other scheduled improvements include painting all restroom facilities in the ballpark and painting the visitor’s locker room.

Finally, the ballpark parking lot will be repaved.

The improvements are set to be completed prior the Bombers’ first home game on May 29. Before hosting summer-collegiate ball the ballpark hosted Low Class A Midwest League baseball.
