Puppy pictures propel BPD page views

Chase the Dog

Geez, if we had known puppy pictures were so popular, we’d run then every day. Thanks to you, Ballpark Digest set a record for monthly page views on Tuesday and generated tons more yesterday.

Rookie By tons, we mean over 90,000 page views, as Google News prominently linked to the story of the addition of Rookie to the Trenton Thunder (Class AA; Eastern League) front office, and the weekly newsletter generated a lot of interest as well. We assume it had something to with the adorable photo of Rookie (to the right); you really can’t go wrong in the Internet with pictures of cute puppies.

Dogs, of course, are fixtures at many ballparks. The late Chase — grandfather to Rookie — was a fixture at Arm & Hammer Park before sadly passing away last July. Derby, father to Rookie and son to Chase, can still be found at Thunder games; another from the litter, Ollie, can be seen at New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Class AA; Eastern League) games.

Miss Babe RuthAnd, for good measure, we have more dog news! Miss Babe Ruth from the Greensboro Grasshoppers (Low Class A; Sally League) strutted her stuff for America’s Got Talent during open tryouts at the Greensboro Marriott.

Anyway, to get back to our news: we’re at 1.19 million page views for the month, and we owe it all to you. Thanks once again for your support and patronage. And please, please send in those dog at the ballpark photos; they’re pure gold.
