A big milestone was marked today by the El Paso Chihuahuas (Class AAA; Pacific Coast League): a topping-out ceremony was held at the construction site of the new downtown ballpark.
Traditionally, a topping-out ceremony is held when the final piece of structural steel is put in place on new construction. From KFOX14:
“I think it makes it real for everyone who maybe hasn’t driven down here in a few weeks. I mean, this ballpark is now at a point where it’s making daily progress to the eye. I mean, you can come by here and see different things that have taken place,” said Brad Taylor, the team’s general manager.
The ballpark is slated to open in April.
