The Martinsville City Council went ahead with a plan to outsource management of the Martinsville Mustangs (summer collegiate; Coastal Plain League) for 2013, which could lead to further changes down the line for the team.
The council approved a deal with Team Cole, which already manages the Forest City Owls and Gastonia Grizzlies in the Coastal Plain League, to manage the Mustangs in 2013 for $50,000. That’s less than the losses incurred by the city in each of the past two years, but it’s pretty clear many city leaders see this as a transitional move that could see a reduced contract or even a sale of the team in the future.
