American Association, Can-Am League to play interconnected schedule again in ’13

American AssociationThe independent American Association and Can-Am League will once again play an interconnected schedule in 2013, as the AA deals with an odd number of teams and the Can-Am League deals with an uncertain situation in Worcester.

Right now we’ve seen a few schedules released by American Association teams, and while they include play against Can-Am League teams, they don’t specify what teams are scheduled. There currently are five firm eams in the Can-Am League — New Jersey Jackals, Newark Bears, Quebec Capitales, Rockland Boulders and Trois-Rivières Aigles — with league officials working to bring back the Worcester Tornadoes, an effort complicated by a) the collapse of the former Tornadoes ownership in 2012 and b) the emergence of other leagues, including a startup league from the Atlantic League and the summer-collegiate Futures League, in pursuit of the Fitton Field lease.
