Blue Wahoos break 300K mark in attendance

Pensacola Blue WahoosWhat a rookie season: the Pensacola Blue Wahoos (Class AA; Southern League) broke the 300,000 mark in attendance tonight — the first Southern League team to hit the milestone this season.

The Apostolides family of Perdido Bay, Florida, were honored as part of the accomplishment.

“To be the first club in the Southern League to reach 300,000 is truly an accomplishment the entire Northwest Florida region and Pensacola should be proud of,” said Blue Wahoos President Bruce Baldwin. “It’s a testament to our fans, we’re grateful for their support and look forward to 2013.”

Blue Wahoos staff and Kazoo, the team’s mascot, greeted the family at the top of the main entrance to celebrate the milestone and presented the family with a special prize pack.

Last season the franchise drew a total of 255,216 (3,698 fans a game) while playing as the Carolina Mudcats in Zebulon, N.C.
