Blue Wahoos hit 200,000 fans, 28 sellouts

Pensacola Blue WahoosThe Pensacola Blue Wahoos (Class AA; Southern League) hit two milestones Thursday night, welcoming the 200,000th fan during this season’s 28th sellout at Pensacola Bayfront Stadium.

The Wahoos are the first Southern League team to hit the 200,000 milestone this season.

“It is a great tribute to our dedicated community that we were the first team in our league to reach 200,000 fans this season,” said Blue Wahoos president Bruce Baldwin. “We have been overwhelmed by the enthusiasm of our fans and we couldn’t be more thankful and appreciative to the 200,000 people who have come through our gates.”

Blue Wahoos staff and Kazoo, the team’s mascot, greeted Chris Bridges and his family at the top of the main entrance to celebrate the milestone. Bridges won a prize pack that included hats, programs and tickets to a future Blue Wahoos game.

Since then the Blue Wahoos have notched two more sellouts, bringing the season total to 30.

Last season the franchise drew a total of 255,216 (3,698 fans a game) while playing as the Carolina Mudcats in Zebulon, N.C.
