The Pensacola Blue Wahoos (Class AA; Southern League) are officially unveiling their new logo and branding during a Friday night event.
In addition to the logo unveiling, the team will begin selling official Blue Wahoo merchandise for fans and supporters, just in time for the holiday season.
The logo was developed by a professional sports branding company, after weeks of interviews with fans, residents, and business owners, as well as on-site observations and research in the Pensacola area.
“The Blue Wahoos organization isn’t going to be your typical ball club, and our logo isn’t going to be typical either,” said Blue Wahoos President Bruce Baldwin. “We hope everyone will come out and celebrate this unveiling with us, and also stock up on team t-shirts, hats, and other merchandise for Holiday gifts, or better yet, to just be a part of the new ‘Wahoo Cool’ fashion that is sure to be all the rage here on the Gulf Coast.”
The team is a result of a two-franchise shift for 2012. The Blue Wahoo are the former Carolina Mudcats (Class AA; Southern League). The Class A Kinston Indians will be moving to Zebulon for play in 2012.
