Goldklang Group goes high-tech/high-touch with new mobile app

The team owner and management consultant will unveil a mobile smartphone application this season to draw fans into the game.
The Goldklang Group has selected XCO Springboard, a smartphone application and Content Management System for all of the company’s minor league baseball teams. The Charleston RiverDogs (Low Class A; Sally League), Hudson Valley Renegades (short season; NY-Penn League), St. Paul Saints (independent; American Association) and Fort Myers Miracle (High Class A; Florida State League) will now be able to connect directly with their fans to share powerful content and create unique experiences using the XCO SportsLink mobile technology.

The XCO SportsLink solution includes a content management system, analytics, and technology services that will enable the Goldklang Group to create and manage content for these four teams so that fans can easily download dynamic applications to their smartphones. All content will be available through a cell carrier or Wi-Fi network connection to a fan’s smartphone. By extending its presence to smartphones, the Goldklang Group is enabling their fans access to information on their favorite team anywhere, any time.

“By offering the XCO SportsLink solution, we are using the newest technology to give our fans access to an application that provides customizable content including inside news and information about our teams, the ability to take advantage of special promotions, participate in social networks, and a wide range of additional features when they download the application,” said Tyler Tumminia, Vice President of Marketing and Operations for the Goldklang Group. “We pride ourselves on being one of the premiere ownership groups in the sport, and by being first in MiLB to develop a fan application, we remain true to our objectives.”

With the XCO SportsLink solution, the RiverDogs, Renegades, Saints, and Miracle fans will be able to enjoy a wide range of custom content including video, images, commentary, promotions, and links including access to BYOFTV.com. The marketing initiative, called “Be Your Own Fan,” also provides fans with unparalleled access to roster updates, real-time statistics, and “inside the club house” information for an incomparable team-to-fan encounter.

Initially, the “Be Your Own Fan” marketing initiative includes an iPhone “app” which will be available to fans early in the season, and will be followed by applications for BlackBerry and other smartphone platforms in the future.

Promotions and internal links for sponsor partners can be published by the XCO solution for marketable and measurable ROI opportunities, creating a new and expansive platform for current and future Goldklang Group corporate partners to reach fans.
