Ray Winder Field, the former home of the Arkansas Travelers (Class AA; Texas League), is being sold to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, but its future is not clear.
This is the second attempt to sell the venerable ballpark; an earlier sale to UAMS was scuttled after some improprieties in the bid process were uncovered. Under this attempt UAMS will buy the ballpark in conjunction with the Little Rock Zoo, which will take control of three acres near zoo grounds.
No word on how the ballpark will be used by UAMS, though the long-term plan may be parking. In the short term, it's possible part of the ballpark will be used for other purposes, with the field remaining intact.
