Renovation of Durham Athletic Park almost complete

Improvements to the historic former home of the Durham Bulls are almost complete, with Minor League Baseball poised to take possession of the facility soon.

Renovations to Durham Athletic Park, the historic former home of the Durham Bulls (High Class A; Carolina League), are almost complete, with Minor League Baseball ready to take over the facility once a certificate of occupancy is issued.

Minor League Baseball will run a variety of programs out of the ballpark, including a groundskeeping program and umpire training. In addition, the ballpark will be the home of the North Carolina Central University baseball team.

Besides indoor improvements, enhancements to the ballpark included revamped dugouts, upgrades for conformity with the Americans for Disabilities Act, new railings and a new netting

Durham Athletic Park opened in 1939 as home to the original Durham Bulls. Many baseball fans know it as the filming locale for many Bull Durham scenes.
