Demolition was halted last week after Wayne County Judge Prentis Edwards issued a temporary restraining order. Last week the Detroit Economic Development Corporation voted to immediately demolish the Navin Field portion of Tiger Stadium without consulting the group seeking to raise money for its preservation; the development corporation held the conservancy had not raised the $33.4 million needed to renovate the original Navin Field grandstand.
Tiger Stadium opened in 1912 as Navin Field. It was the home of the Tigers through the 1999 season.
