Everything must go, as Memorial Stadium, the former home of the Fort Wayne Wizards (Low Class A; Midwest League) is being dismantled before demolition.
The Wizards played at Memorial Stadium through the 2008 season before moving to a new downtown ballpark this season. The contents of the ballpark, including urinals and bleachers, will be put up for auction Saturday.
Local officials had sought a use for the ballpark after the loss of the Wizards, but could not find one; the decision was made to tear down the ballpark to make way for more parking at adjacent Memorial Coliseum.
The auction should be a success; there's always a market for used bleachers and seats, as well as other miscellaneous baseball equipment.
