It’s a happy ending for the hardcore fans at Bringhurst Field: they lost the independent United League Baseball Aces when that circuit went under and the lease to the ballpark was lost. The independent Continental Baseball League ended up with the Aces. but no other ULB franchises (which were awarded to the league’s founders in bankruptcy court), and the weakest franchise in the old ULB became the flagship franchise in the CBL. True, it’s been a hard offseason for the CBL, and the dreams of taking over the ULB were dashed, and now the circuit is down to four teams and two travel teams. But there are some smart folks associated with the Aces, like Eric Moran, so we’ll hold out hope the league can thrive.
