Captains unveil improvement to Fair Grounds Field

First and foremost among the improvements is a brand new E-Sign video scoreboard, with a high-definition screen and an adjacent radar gun display for pitch speed. Additionally, the Captains are installing “home-run fireworks” behind the scoreboard, which will be shot off on cue after Captains’ homers and other dramatic moments.

The construction crews have also been out on the field, building a new bar in the beer garden area down the left-field line, as well as the decks for the Captains deck tables on top of the dugouts and a new concession stand down the right field line. Almost the whole stadium has been painted and cleaned, with a new color scheme of dark green and beige throughout Fair Grounds Field.

A new bar is under construction in the third floor Captains Club area, which will be the home of a $25 all-you-can-eat and drink buffet during the season. Other than that area, and the four-seat deck tables, which are $32 per table per night, all other seats at Fair Grounds Field are $5 for 2009. The press box carpet has been replaced, and new tile and windows will be installed before the season. The souvenir stand has been renovated, cleaned, and repainted too, relocated to the main concourse area.

In addition to the physical upgrades, the concessions menu will also be revamped for 2009, with the regular ballpark staples like hot dogs, hamburgers, and french fries, as well as funnel cakes, chicken baskets, nachos, sausage dogs, and much more. The Captains are also excited to announce the return of McAlister’s iced tea to the stadium menu, which will be available near the main gate along with Ittibitz ice cream, and shaved ice.
