Villalobos was 23 years old.
A southpaw, Brandon was drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the 23rd round, but chose to attend San Diego State University. Brandon was scheduled to report to the Grizzlies on May 6 for the start of his professional career.
“My thoughts and prayers are with Brandon’s family and friends,” said Grizzlies Manager Phil Warren. “We lost a promising young ballplayer and an even better person on Saturday evening. Brandon will be missed dearly.”
