Texas Rangers hitting coach Rudy Jaramillo says Rangers Ballpark in Arlington will turn into a pitchers’ nirvana because of global warming causing changes in the airstream.
OK, so Jaramillo isn’t a trained meteorologist or performed any studies of the air currents in Rangers Ballpark in Arlington as the Rangers did in the past. He is, however, a sharp guy. And we suspect his statements have less to do with science and more to do with Psych 101: setting the pitching staff up to succeed. He said:
"You know all this [bleep] that’s going on around the world, weather-wise, well, we’re seeing it in Arlington," said Rudy. "The jet stream at The Ballpark ain’t what it used to be. That’s changing. I think it’ll help our arms.
"It’s true," answered Rudy.
"Huh?" laughed second baseman Ian Kinsler when told of Jaramillo’s theory. "Global warming? Well, whatever."
