Prim seeks $6 million in outside financing to complete ballpark

Billy Prim, the owner of the Winston-Salem Dash, is looking for outside investors to put in up to $6 million for a share of a new ballpark.Billy Prim, the owner of the Winston-Salem Dash (High Class A; Carolina League), is looking for outside investors to put in up to $6 million for a share of a downtown new ballpark and associated development.

Team officials say completion of the new ballpark, slated for April, does not depend on whether Prim receives the additional investment; he could always arrange his own financing or make other arrangements. But the fact Prim is circulating an offer to potential investors in this economy and so close to the end of construction does not bode will for the project. According to the offering, Prim has $32 million of the $38 million needed for the new ballpark and would make up the gap via outside investors. Those investors, who can invest as little as $50,000 for their share of the ballpark, would also be investing in Prim’s other development projects near the ballpark, which include a $20-million office building and potentially apartments and a standalone restaurant.
