The summer-collegiate Central Illinois Collegiate League is no more, as four teams are being absorbed into the startup Prospect League. In the West Division will be Quincy, Hannibal, Springfield, Danville, Dubois County and DuPage County; in the East Division will be Chillicothe (run by the former owners of the Frontier League Paints), Richmond (again, a former Frontier League market), Lorain, Butler (playing in a renovated Pullman Park) and Slippery Rock (again, a former Frontier League market). There will be minimal inter-division play — only four games out of 54 will come outside the division. The leaders of the new league say they’re shooting for growth, although they may find selling national sponsorships — a stated goal — to be more difficult than they anticipate.
