The owners of the Fullerton Flyers (independent; North American League) are negotiating a lease for Cal State-Fullerton’s Goodwin Field for the 2012 season.
The team, which played in the original Golden Baseball League, was on hiatus last season while team owner Alan Mintz negotiated a new-ballpark deal at Amerige Park with city officials. There’s no new ballpark, though negotiations are continuing, While some of the Flyers ownership set up camp in Hawaii last year under the Na Koa Ikaika Maui banner, Mintz has stepped back in to assert leadership of the Flyers, reverting to the original team name (the team ended play in 2010 as the Orange County Flyers) and working out a new lease with Cal State-Fullerton. Nothing has been signed, but it’s one more building block in the 2012 North American League lineup.
