IronPigs Extending Coca-Cola Park Protective Netting

Coca-Cola Park Netting Extension

The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (Class AAA; International League) will extend protective netting at Coca-Cola Park prior to the 2020 season, running it farther down both base lines.

The netting will now provide protection for mostly every seat in the lower seating bowl. The installation is scheduled to be completed by Opening Day.

“Safety of our fans’ will always be top priority at Coca-Cola Park,” said IronPigs President and General Manager Kurt Landes. “By us extending the netting farther down the first- and third-base lines, this will further ensure our fans safety.”

This is the third time since 2017 the protective netting will be extended towards the foul poles.  According to the IronPigs, the protective netting also continues to have the following features:

  • The ability to withstand at least 316 pounds of breaking strength
    • Strong resistance to UV light
    • 15% stronger than steel
    • 40% stronger than aramid fibers
    • 95% see-through visibility
